LAUNCH OF THE GOVERNANCE PLATFORM; A FORUM FOR DISCUSSIONS ON GOVERNANCE ISSUES

In considering the importance of promoting good corporate governance practices, “THE GOVERNANCE PLATFORM” was launched at Kenna Partners’ 30th-anniversary Breakfast session on Corporate Governance held on June 9, 2023.

The Governance Platform was launched as an online forum for professionals, institutions, members of the academia, and corporate governance enthusiasts to promote and elevate the quality of discourse on governance issues and deepen the conversation around governance worldwide.

Unveiled by Professor Mervyn King, SC, a renowned Corporate Governance scholar, Jurist and Chairman of the King Committee that published the revolutionary King Report on Corporate Governance; the Governance Platform is set to feature regular discussions and intellectual exchange on governance issues, ESG/ Sustainability issues, International best practices in Corporate Governance, analysis of corporate scandals and governance failures, case law reviews, and other governance-related issues.

The Initiator of The Governance Platform, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, a Professor of Corporate Governance, remarked that the platform was established to give an integrative voice to governance, governance institutions and experts whilst promoting continuous knowledge sharing on Governance related issues.

Busayo Nsikak-Inyang, a member of the management team of the Governance Platform stated that the Platform would promote independent multi-disciplinary discourse, debate, and learning and encourage leadership and organisational development for leaders and companies worldwide.

She further stated that the Platform is intended to provide a forum for professionals to connect and work together to address critical governance issues and foster sustainable competitive advantage for corporates.

In noting the benefits of participating in the Governance Platform, Abasiemediong Etuk, a member of the management team, stated that the Platform would afford an opportunity for all visitors and contributors to learn and be heard whilst giving them insight into the challenges of the business world.

She added that the website features academic research and other insights on a variety of subjects including but not limited to, Compliance, Disclosure, Financial Crisis, Sustainability, Regulations, Environmental, Social and Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility amongst others.

The Governance Platform is supported by Kenna Foundation and the Society for Corporate Governance, Nigeria (SCGN) and managed by Funmilayo Adeshina, Busayo Nsikak-Inyang and Abasiemediong Etuk.
